Description
- Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken ceramic pieces with gold to which the piece will be even more beautiful than before it was broken - (Roma, 2013)
Everyone has a story...
My story is just one of many
When I was a child, I saw pieces of myself break off
I thought it'd be okay since they were only a few pieces
But, it progressively got worse and worse
Everything hurt
Everything completely shattered after my high school graduation
There was nothing - only bits and pieces on the ground to be trampled on
I believed everyone who said I was worthless, ugly, and nothing
Who would want a bunch of broken shards on the ground anyway?
I tried to put myself back together - trying to salvage what was left of myself
Glue, tape, anything to try and keep the pieces together and hide the scars but nothing worked
I thought I would be forever broken - worthless
But, I started to find my way - dragging my broken self foward
I found things I could do - things that could help others - things that made me feel like myself
I tried to put myself back together again
This time was different - I slowly welded my pieces together with bright gold
My scars are visible, but they only add to my worth
Each one of you has a story
Some of you may have also been shattered
Healing doesn't happen within a moment in time
You will find yourself
Each one of your broken pieces - your scars - represents your experiences
Those scars do not depreciate your worth
They are proof that you are stronger and more beautiful than you were before
Your worth is yourself
To everyone with a story
I drew this piece awhile back, and I've always kept this piece close to me
I've fought many battles - inside and outside of myself
and I've persevered through each and everyone of them, and I will keep on persevering
Keep loving one another and keep on having hope & perseverance
We are stronger than hatred and violence
